Dreams are a funny thing. Whether they happen during the coveted REM sleep, during a particularly boring meeting or playing with dolls as a child, they can and will consume you.
Dreams change, grow and adapt to mirror what is going around you. Feeding on your stress, drinking in your insecurities or pumping your blood full of confidence. Dreams can fuel, empower or taunt you until you conquer or resolve them.
Moving to San Diego has been a dream of mine for years and I made that happen in March of 2013. Now, that was only part of the dream, the second part was working in a social media focused role full-time.
At some point I stopped working towards the social media dream and I can’t say exactly when it happened. Over the last 6 months I’ve had the pleasure of working with SDX, the intersection of media, marketing and technology in San Diego. I woke up everyday happy to go to work and knowing that my small contribution was enriching my industry and myself.
Last week, I decided that it wasn’t enough and I wanted more. I have a true love affair and mild obsession with all things social media. I’ve been glued to a computer screen chatting and sharing information with internet strangers since dial-up. I knew it was time to get back on the social media horse.
I made the choice to leave my “cushy” job to follow my dream of living in San Diego and working in social media. What lies ahead is unknown but I know that it is just around the river bend.
Dreams….they always find a way of sneaking back in.
Do you have a forgotten dream?
