I’ve officially taken the plunge and launched my production house. It is crazy to think I’m an entrepreneur and the only person I report to, is myself. Last July I left my job at “the intersection of media, marketing, and technology,” to focus on pursuing my ultimate career goal: Social Media Barbie.
For 7 months I worked as a social media consultant and was able to get a crash course in pitching new clients, managing my time in a whole new way, and of course, keeping up with all things social media related. I won’t lie, it hasn’t always been easy and I questioned myself a lot during this time….. did I make the right choice, what is my focus, how do I use my experience to help others, can I really do this, and so many others.
Over the years I’ve slowly been working towards creating something I can call my own. I didn’t realize it at the time but two projects while I was in college have helped lead me here + my years of volunteer experience with nonprofits including film festivals and professional organizations. I’d been inspired through various events, people, and social media but didn’t realize I could make it a “job” or my career.
So, while on Catalina Island back in September I decided I wanted to create a business using my experience with social media + my passion for nonprofits, arts, movers & shakers. It took a few more months and several meetings with people I admire around San Diego to brainstorm and figure out exactly what I was going to create. The idea was there but it was broad and I needed the help to shape & mold the clay.
I’m delighted to say that after countless hours of day-dreaming, shaping my idea, and finding people to help me I’ve launched Jupiter Production House.
Since launching I’ve experienced a whirlwind of emotions from fear, to doubt, to am I crazy and full circle back to “I can do this.”
I’m very grateful for all the positive support, feedback, and client referrals I’ve received since launching last Monday. I can’t express how much it means to me to have so much support from people I admire, friends, and family.
At Jupiter Production House I’m looking forward to helping artists, creatives, doers, and makers on telling their story and using video + social media + events.
I’ve had the pleasure of recruiting fantastic people to work with me AND pitching incredible clients. In just a few short weeks I’ve been able to connect with filmmakers, nonprofit owners, small business owners, inventors, and more to help them tell their story in under 2 minutes via video.
I don’t know what the future hold for Jupiter Production House, I do know that I’m excited to see where it goes and who I can help along the way. I’m forever grateful for the opportunity to share my knowledge with others and continue to be inspired along the way.
If you are thinking about creating something of your own, whether it is something big or small I encourage you to chase that idea and make it concrete. Ask for help, support, and advice along the way and see where your “crazy” idea can take you. It has never been easier to create something of your own, with technology at your fingertips, and I will do whatever I can to help you shape & mold your clay.
Are you ready to tell your story?
